Book Design
01Project Description
I was assigned a typeface to work with for the semester (Swift Neue). Each week I had the challenge of designing multitudes of iterations using type with certain guidelines. Beginning with only using horizontal baselines and a single font, and a single size, all the way to eventually using various sizes, rules, different fonts, and all baselines. I then got to choose a page as inspiration to create a book design to hold all of my final project work.

02Process
• Research Typeface
• Quickly create 10-20 iterations per week
• Receive A LOT of feedback and critiques throughout whole process
• Use letterforms in conjunction with other letterforms
• Use letterforms in conjunction with shapes
• Design a book layout paying attention to hierarchy
• Organize the book accordingly

03Reflection
The main focus of this project was to start focusing more on the letterforms themselves and what the uniqueness of each can offer a page. I also gained a new mindset as far as having a purpose to every aspect of placing letters or groupings of text. This class in general was extremely helpful, I can truly say this class made me confident in approaching any kind of typographic challenge, including thinking about type sizes and placements on screens, versus on print material.
